Remotesoft Announces the Release of Salamander Suite for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Source Code Protection

Delivering a complete solution for guarding applications based on the Microsoft .NET Framework or .NET Compact Framework from prying eyes

Dallas, TX - June 2, 2003 – Remotesoft, Inc., a leader in code security and programming language tools for the Microsoft Windows platform, announced today the release of the Salamander Suite, providing developers with a complete solution for protecting MSIL (Microsoft Intermediate Language) code such as Visual Studio .NET 2003, Visual C# .NET, Visual Basic .NET and Visual J# .NET compilers produces against reverse engineering, disassembly and decompilation. The Salamander Suite provides protection to server or client MSIL code that targets the .NET Framework and also for device code that targets the .NET Compact Framework.

Remotesoft Salamander is an integrated developer suite that introduces the Remotesoft .NET Explorer’s graphic user interface (GUI) which encapsulates all the necessary tools to protect applications including an obfuscator, and a protector.  The .NET Explorer is a Windows-based GUI for object and metadata browsing.  The obfuscator makes reverse engineering more difficult through symbol renaming, metadata removal, and cross-reference obfuscation while the Salamander’s advanced code protector completely stops MSIL disassembly and decompilation by emitting native code and providing MSIL code encryption.

“Remotesoft offers a productivity package for professional .NET software developers that is unparalleled in the industry for ease of use and effectiveness,” stated Dr. Peter A. Bromberg of “The Remotesoft .NET Explorer interface is the familiar Windows Explorer view with all the toolbox buttons and shortcuts you would expect. This is your dashboard for analyzing and protection of .NET code. Remotesoft's obfuscator is excellent, it is as good as or better than any other I have seen, and the protector is the only technology that offers real protection for your intellectual properties.”

Remotesoft’s Salamander Suite offers the following unique features:

·       An integrated user interface that allows developers to browse, obfuscate, protect, and test MSIL code through a common interface.

·       String protection prevents the viewing and searching of any literal strings such as user id or special keys that may be found in MSIL code. The implementation is secure and no extra instructions are introduced.  In contrast, obfuscators inject a decryption instruction after each string which allows a hacker to easily retrieve strings by invoking the embedded decryption method.

·       Resource protection prevents icons, images, strings and other managed resources in MSIL code from being viewed. Remotesoft Protector is the only product that offers this feature.

“Remotesoft demonstrates the various techniques that can be used to secure commercial, enterprise and mobile applications based on the .NET Framework or .NET Compact Framework,” said Mike Kass, product manager for the Developer and Platform Evangelism Division at Microsoft Corp. “With this level of in-depth protection, developers can focus more on development than on worrying about protecting intellectual property.”
